How far will the lion's tail go?

by Amy Haring

Have you seen the long tail that is winding it's way around the halls of Logan Junior High?  It belongs to "Alex" the Lion and is helping the students and the staff get into reading.  The lion's tail is made up of four different colored sections which represent each of the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classes as well as the faculty/staff.

Each individual color section represents a book and a passed Accelerated Reader test.  The section includes the title of the book that the student read and the student's name.  This reading incentive started at the beginning of the school year and continues to grow each day!  The Language Arts Department has set a school-wide reading goal of 3,000 books.

We read 3,492 books!  Mr. Orwig is proud of this school wide accomplishment and wore a dress as promised when the students met the goal.
